E Ala E - Wailuku River
On September 13th, 2016, the torrential rain of a lifetime caused widespread damage to Iao Valley, as it rerouted the Wailuku River. When the Wailuku Water Company began aggressively rerouting the river back to their diversion intake, three brave women stepped in to stop the diggers. The documentary short, E Ala E (Rise up/Awaken) - Wailuku River travels up the river to tell their story.
Raging rivers caused widespread damage across the island, especially in ʻĪao valley. Especially, the Wailuku River.
